Dr. Shreya Sarker-Barney

Dr. Shreya Sarkar-Barney is the CEO and founder of Human Capital Growth (HCG).  A deep conviction that the use of evidence-based methods creates fair and equitable workplaces, influences much of Shreya’s work. In 2019, Shreya was awarded the Scientist-Practitioner presidential recognition by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP)She advises organizations on the benefits of using science and prior evidence to guide people’s decisions.

Shreya has championed the use of talent analytics with major technology giants, which has influenced their program design and investment decisions.  Her thought leadership on the future of work is now used to redesign organizational structures to enable fluid collaboration and problem-solving.  A significant portion of Shreya’s time is spent uncovering unbiased and efficacious science-based practices, to help drive extraordinary outcomes. Through her work, she aims to create hope and optimism for more fulfilled work experiences and inspire individuals and organizations to push the limits of what’s possible.

Shreya holds an affiliate research scientist appointment with the Center for Effective Organizations, at the University of Southern California. She serves on the boards of the HR Strategy Forum and City of Vacaville, Economic Development Advisory Committee.  She is on the editorial board of the SIOP Professional Practice Series – a book series that brings evidence-based practice from the field of industrial and organizational psychology to solving today’s most pressing talent management issues in organizations.

Prior roles include leading leadership development at Levi Strauss & CO. and leading Organizational Effectiveness and Training at Dendrite International.

Led projects in the areas of leadership assessment, feedback & coaching,  team development, competency modeling, succession planning, diversity & inclusion, and talent analytics.

Shreya’s work experience spans across the United States, Europe, and Asia.

​Impact

Turned around non-performing cross-border collaboration for a major pharmaceutical firm, through leadership and talent interventions. This collaboration continues to thrive eight years post the intervention, while several other partnerships have been terminated.

Led the leadership and talent alignment initiative for a major apparel firm to enable strategy implementation.  The effort involved leading the development of a new leadership competency model and integrating with the global succession planning process.

Designed and facilitated a leadership intervention for the shared-services team based in India, leading to a pivot in the delivery model.  Three years post the intervention, the team has transitioned from a siloed service provider to a collaborative and intelligence-driven global service center.

Leveraging psychological assessments and coaching, advised on candidate selection for several country, region, and corporate-level leadership positions.

Advised a leading US-based manufacturer on the launch of their Indian Operations through selection assessments and coaching of leadership candidates.
